A man working to salvage the building materials from his destroyed house. Everyone working in the village has lost multiple family members.
Walking across the the lower half of the village of Langtang, which was completely buried by an avalanche nearly 2km wide. Boulders the size of cars thrown thousands of feet.
Walking across the debris field created by the avalanche that destroyed the village of Langtang. When the earth started shaking on April 25th, I was talking with this man, Dindu Jangba, just a few kilometers below in Godhatabela. We ran together, he helped the people stranded at Godhatabela while they were waiting for evacuation, then he climbed back up over the avalanche to find and help others. He lost his mother and many others. I have gotten to know him more in Kathmandu, while the displaced people of the Langtang Valley were encamped in Kathmnandu. Standing here with him was an overwhelming feeling. He said "We can't even imagine this in our dreams."
