Looking through a photo album from one of the damaged guesthouses at Kyangjin Gompa.
Women from Langtang and the Korean Team who helped deliver construction materials to Langtang.
Yak and yak-hybrid herds roaming around Kyangjin Gompa. Though increased tourism has changed the livelihood strategies of the Langtangpa, pastoralism remains an important aspect of life here. Roughly 30 herders have been in the Lantang Valley during the monsoon, and will continue moving about the Valley this coming winter. Nearly one hundred yak were killed in avalanches triggered by the earthquake; and over 300 yak died in another late-winter (heavy snow year) avalanche further up the Langtang Valley in grazing areas beyond the settlements. NGOs are searching for ways to help the herding community recover.
